Trip Planner: South America / Uruguay / Maldonado Department / Punta del Este / The Fingers of Punta del Este
Many people interpret The Fingers of Punta del Este as either a hand of a zombie god come to take his vengeance on a sinful Earth, or the grasping fingers of a buried giant. In fact, neither assumption is correct. Created by Chilean artist Mario Irrazabal in 1982, the beach sculpture has since become an iconic attraction in Punta del Este. Take an artistic photo of the sculpture and imagine all the mythical creatures it might represent. Plan my Punta del Este trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

Not sure why this is an attraction but everyone goes and takes pictures of the fingers coming out of the sand. Sorry but nothing spectacular. Nice beach in front of the hand - though rough. Nice... more »
They buried a giant in the sand. All that's left are some fingers. Punta del Rate is a really cool beach with a very nice vibe. People are very polite. The place is super clean. And the fingers are just friggin cool.
The monument is quite iconic with everyone taking selfies and photos, to that I'd give it a five. However the beach is not great. I'd suggest to go to Piriapolis. All beaches towards that direction are great.
