1972 Museum honors the survivors and victims of a crash that involved a group of high school rugby players, their friends, and relatives. The story that inspired many books revolves around 16 Uruguayans who endured 72 days in the cold mountains, with no food or proper clothing. See their personal belongings, airplane debris, documents, and photographs from the "Valley of Tears." The 19th-century museum building with balconies made of Carrara marble is a worthwhile architectural attraction in and of itself. • This museum, which displays the strength and courage of the human soul, will leave you speechless and force you realize how fragile life really is. An inspiring story of survival. We have seen the movie "Alive" read the book, and now have been to this outstanding museum which brought everything to life, and more importantly, pays tribute to ALL the people on the flight that fateful day. The staff at the Museum were exceptional providing additional informational and insight. This museum is not to be missed.
  • Really interesting and informative museum. Knew the story already from reading the book but learned so much more. The letters some of the members wrote to loved ones before they passed are incredibly moving. The founder does a great job explaining things and is clearly passionate about it. Very much enjoyed the museum and so glad we fit it into our short stay!
