See one of the biggest outdoor collections of water lilies in the United States at McKee Botanical Garden, a subtropical garden filled with local and exotic plant species that was founded in 1929. The garden was a popular attraction after it opened in 1932, but was closed for about 25 years until 2001, when it was refurbished. Now you'll find vast groups of water lilies, bromeliads, pineapple plants, plumbago, tall palm trees, and other fragrant vegetation. Explore the hall of the giants, a Polynesian-styled ceremonial palace built by one of the garden's founders, Waldo E. Sexton, out of cypress and pine. The palace contains an 11 m (35 foot) table made from a single piece of mahogany. What an amazing peaceful place. The grounds are spectacular and clean. With all the different trails you are always finding something different. Got kids? There is an area just for them...and it's awesome! FUN!
The McKee Botanical Gardens was beautiful! Lots of great photo opportunities. A lot of different orchids and fun dinosaurs across the area with a cute kids center if you bring your kids. There is a Cafe, though it was closed when we went. Hope there are more variations of plants for our next visit, but overall really loved it!
