San Antonio Zoo features 750 species of mammals, reptiles, birds(among the United States' largest collections), and amphibians. See the plains of Africa and lush jungles of Amazonia in this natural setting for over 9,000 animals. Observe different animal species as they share a common watering place, and watch a hippopotamus and a Nile crocodile up close through underwater viewing windows. You can hop on a train for a tour around the zoo, visit a butterfly garden, play with parrots, and ride a carousel. There's a lot of walking to do, so wear comfortable shoes and carry water with you. San Antonio Zoo reviews

It was hot, as it will be on most days in San Antonio. However, we were unable to see a lot of the animals, or they were sleeping, which made the experience lackluster to say the least. With... more »
The San Antonio Zoo is clean, exciting, and educational. Everywhere you turn you have the opportunity to learn about animals AND to learn about how you can help with conservation. The staff are so friendly and genuine. You can really tell the people working are happy to be there and be a part of the zoo experience. This zoo even features daily animal presentations at the most visited exhibits! Passionate and dedicated workers, healthy and active animals, and a goal dedicated to making the world a better place for all animals, not just the human ones. An excellent place for all ages.
They are constantly renovating and creating new attractions! The kids area has a nice water play spot with sand as well as a "mud kitchen" play area. I love that they have an air conditioned nursing room for moms. Great size zoo, not too overwhelming. Can't wait to see more of their projects (like the jaguar walkway!) in the future.
