Create an itinerary including St. James Catholic Cathedral
Nestled in downtown Orlando, St. James Catholic Cathedral features manicured grounds, elegant white facade, and decorations. Built during the 1950s and renovated in 2009, the church serves as the seat of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Orlando. Spacious yet inviting and cozy, the interior is adorned with colorful murals that grace the altar walls and dome. The light coming through the stained glass windows contributes to the overall spiritual atmosphere, especially during the Mass when the large pipe organ is put into play. • I have been seeking spiritual renewal here for many years. It's been a while since the COVID pandemic. My recent visit, I noticed definite changes: the parking meter if $.25 per 15 minutes, no more candles in a jar. Now there is a box of 2-inch triangle toppers looking candles with a $2 donation request, to be placed and lit in a red glass in front of the Blessed Mother statue. One statue was not in the smaller temple. The large sanctuary no longer has the fountain. The picture scenery in the dome has changed. Everything looks beautiful, clean and peaceful. Definitely setup for less contact. I left feeling spiritually renewed.
