Commemorating the watershed event of recent American history, 9/11 Memorial marks the spot of the two World Trade Center buildings that were destroyed during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Gain a deeper understanding of the tragic events surrounding those attacks by taking a guided walking tour of Ground Zero. A museum features exhibits ranging from objects found in the rubble to multimedia displays offering the stories and final voicemails of those who died in the buildings. You can stop by the memorial's two reflecting pools, designed to inspire hope and renewal and to pay tribute to victims. The architecture, innovation, the exhaustive inclusion of information, and every detail you can imagine makes this museum a great, beautiful, and moving experience. There's been thorough research to make this museum and you can tell from the moment you start the exposition. It's modern, inclusive (audio guide in every language), it is adapted for people with disabilities and prepared to receive massive crowds (unlike other museums in New York); the timeline is the cherry on top. There's plenty of audiovisual and graphic material, just beware there are some areas that have material that could be too sensitive for kids but the staff and signs let you know before you enter.

We took the guided tour and it was definitely worth the extra money. Our tour guide was knowledgable and detailed with an appropriate sprinkling of emotion, because how could you be good at this job without having some sort of emotional reaction to what you are speaking about. The tour was the perfect way to be introduced to the museum. The tour itself lasts about an hour with the opportunity to see more on your own if you so choose. They think of everything, including providing tissues throughout the building, which I did need to utilize. If all humans took the time to go through this museum, it may remind us of how to treat others - we seem to have lost the unity and love towards others we all felt the two weeks proceeding 9/11.
