Discover the colorful history of the city's distinct architecture with a walk through Art Deco Historic District, boasting nearly 1,000 historical buildings. Bounded by the Atlantic on its eastern side, the district houses vibrantly colored buildings built during an era when the city advertised itself as a "tropical playground." Laid out rapidly in the 1920s and the 1930s, the area developed almost exclusively in the Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival, and Modern styles of architecture. For a self-guided tour of the district's renowned hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes, galleries, and shops, rent a bicycle at any one of nearly 100 bike rental stations scattered around the city. Beautiful buildings and architecture. We didn't hire a tour guide, but I think it would be more interesting to see the district with one.

When you hear about Art Deco you imagine something like Glazgow, Vienna or Prague. Alas! it is far from, but still nice

Okay, nice enough but not what we expected. They do give you a map of all the Art Deco buildings in the area but if you found your way here the rest isn’t difficult to figure out. The “museum” is a racing museum, if that’s what your coming for then great! The Art Deco portion is small and not much - a couple of poster displays. Clean bathrooms and air conditioning make it a nice pit stop. Gift shop has fun vintage pieces and some new things, pricey. Outside is a great photo op at the clock wall.

Was there two weeks ago for the annual Art Deco Festival. This place is one of those places that makes me glad I live in South Florida. Went with my wife and my six-year-old grandson. Walked up and down through the booths and had lunch in one of the hotel restaurants on Ocean Drive. Was an enjoyable day.
