View colorful marine life such as moray eels, manta rays, octopuses, and white-tip reef sharks roaming the reef at the crescent-shaped, partially submerged volcanic Molokini Crater, which was created from an eruption hundreds of thousands of years ago. Snorkel to see creatures closer to the surface, or scuba dive to reach bigger fish in deeper water. The crater also serves as a bird sanctuary, so bring your binoculars if you like birding. If you're here in winter, you might glimpse humpback whales in the waters near the crater. Plan to visit Molokini Crater during your Makena vacation using our convenient Makena day trip tool.

  • In our opinion the site is vastly over rated. Yes you do see lots of fish maybe 4-5 different varieties but was expecting much more after reading reviews on here. It is very crowded as boats set...

  • We snorkeled with Boss Frog's on the Malolo. We had a wonderful experience! For people who have never snorkeled this is a perfect set up. The crew was very helpful and put everyone at ease. Food...

  • Beautiful, crystal clear water! Lots of species and varieties of fish as well. Many different colors and sizes. We even saw an octopus! The water is about 15ft deep near the shore, so excellent for snorkeling and general swimming. We booked a snorkeling tour here, which was kinda pricey, but ended up being very well worth it. If you book a tour, get tickets several weeks in advance because these regularly sell out.
  • This was an amazing experience I ever had with my bro. After coviD this was our first trip together and it was a blast. We both did snorkeling together and experienced the giant Pacific Ocean and the underworld . It was our first experience in such a massive ocean yet, the crew on the cruise were watching upon everyone with great caution. We followed their instructions for snuba as well. We sure did had a blissful experience. Kudos to Four winds cruise team .
