Create an itinerary including Louisville Mega Cavern
Discover the underground world of Louisville Mega Cavern, once a bomb shelter capable of housing nearly 50,000 people. Today, the cavern features the world's only underground zipline course that allows you to plunge off 20 m (70 ft) cliffs into a pit of darkness. If jumping into complete blackness isn't your thing, take a tram tour of the cavern's many passages. The tram stops at a large worm farm, where insects consume trash in order to produce fertilizer. Be sure to dress appropriately--the cavern is 30 m (100 ft) below the city, and temperatures rarely rise above 13 C (56 F). • Anna, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the history and current status of the Mega Cavern. She drove the tram well and stopped to show us about the cavern.

  • Super fun experience! The guides did such a nice job. I always felt safe and knew what to expect. It was chilly in the caverns. Long sleeves are a must. Pants are preferable to shorts and close toed shoes are required. Lucy and Annie were great guides. They made us feel comfortable and had a great sense of humor.
  • Definitely unique and one of a kind adventure. We did the zip line. Our guides, Abby and Austin were great. Lots of fun but very knowledgeable about comfort and safety of guests. It probably would’ve been more fun if I was younger and in better shape, as my technique and body positioning not conducive to maximum speed. Would’ve given 5 stars but at $100 dollars per adult, I found it a bit pricey for 2 hours of entertainment.
