Established in 1987 as Alabama's first land trust, we are a member-supported non-profit working to preserve natural North Alabama, fresh water resources, and habitat - making our communities better places to live, work, and play.Use our Huntsville trip itinerary builder tool to add Land Trust of North Alabama and other attractions to your Huntsville vacation plans.
Currently seven Nature Preserves include trails for recreation, exercise, and education. All who run - hike - bike - enjoy Land Trust trails are encouraged to join at at least the $35 level to help continue to steward our preserved acres. Join the land preservation movement! Be part of our work to keep preserve our natural heritage!
At 1,107 acres, our flagship Monte Sano Nature Preserve is one of the largest urban nature preserves in the US. Our 65+ miles of trails are the first and only National Recreation Trails in Madison County.
