Along East Rim Drive. Beautiful observation point and well worth making the drive out here for a different view of the Canyon. Make sure to drive on to Moran Point which is even better more »

The views here are breathtaking—a must stop and see. The parking lot is easy to access and trails are paved and accessible for all ages and abilities. In November the crowds are low but I imagine in..... more »

Ironically, this is not the grandest view of the Grand Canyon. But it still amazes. I noticed another trailhead here that I would love to hike. The view of Sinking Ship is interesting. Reminds me of the Titanic going down.

Grandview Point is one of a handful of stops you can make along the Desert View Road from the Grand Canyon Village. This is the the location of a late 19th century hotel built by entrepreneur, Pete Berry hoping to cash in on the tourism boom that had started at the Grand Canyon. There is no evidence of the old hotel or log cabin that was here prior to that. However, there is an information board detailing its history. Further, this is the start of the Grandview Trail, which was used by earlier visitors to scale down the Rim into the canyon. This remains a popular hike today and is probably, a good reason to stop here beyond simply viewing into Grand Canyon to take in the splendid views If you are driving out to Dessert View Watchtower, this makes a nice stopping point. Views here are quite impressive. You can see the North Rim very well as well as glance in both the eastern and western directions into the canyon. You can take a few pictures, read the historical accounts provided at this stop and then be on your way east to other viewpoints along the way to the watchtower. Note: The Desert View Drive from the Grand Canyon Village is a round trip 50 mile drive. Make sure to give yourself at least 2-3 hours so you have enough time for a few stops along the way for various viewpoints, the Tusayan Museum and the Desert View Watchtower attraction.
