Went with the kids (6 &9) for the day. The staff is super friendly. The train ride is short and sweet but worth it for $5.00. Riding down the road you can see the Cruise Ships when they are docked... more »
This is a great place to visit while in Galveston. I take my family almost every time we go and enjoy it time after time. There are historic trains as well as model train setups. You can also take a quick train ride. Last time we went the engineer let us ride with him on the engine! Great for all ages. Be prepared to stay hydrated if you go during the summer as many of the exhibits are actual train cars with no air conditioning.
This place is pretty amazing, you can walk through all the trains and see what they really used to be like and the full museum walk through after that is amazing! There was a section of the museum where the worker allowed us an up close photo of a conductor hat that looks like the kind my grandpa used when he drove trains! It was a fantastic experience! They have a train ride for the kids too but it wasn't running the day we went because it rained.
