Lotz House Museum tells the story of the talented Lotz family and their home during the American Civil War. A guide will take you through the remarkable house. Admire the intricate carpentry of Johann Lotz and the finest Civil War-era antiques collection in the South. The Lotz house was in the central area of the Battle of Franklin, one of the bloodiest of the war, and you can still see damage from the five hours of fighting. Look for the charred dent in the wooden floor from a cannonball that crashed through the roof. Following the battle, the house served as a hospital for wounded soldiers. Bloodstains are still visible on the floors and walls throughout the house. On your way out, stop by the gift shop, which features DVDs and books about the Civil War, as well as one-of-a-kind antiques and collectibles. . I left the tour early, I couldn’t take our guide Tom’s constant animated talk about the Civil War. He was definitely not over it. He’d get off topic and ramble about the dead bodies and smell. I...

This home is rich with history, from the workmanship of the original owners to the historical tours given by the staff. It takes you back in time to enjoy and learn about the past. Mr. Thomas is the most entertaining tour guide I've ever listened to he definitely keeps your attention the amount of knowledge this man knows from the past with dates, times, people and places is remarkable! Then you have sweet Kelly she is who is a joy to be around and listen to she's really good with the children on the tours, and in the gift shop. Mr Chuck who used to be a teacher is also extremely knowledgeable and has done countless reenactments of the battles. During the haunted tours you will also encounter a volunteer Mrs Nikki who is amazing as well. The home in itself is just amazing from the stairs case, to the fireplaces. The beautiful antiques that are in the home. The owners have such a love and admiration for this home and it shows from the upkeep to their workers and volunteers. It truly is a must see! I have been their several times and will continue to go back and enjoy this beautiful historical place that just reminds you of home.

If you are interested in American history you will enjoy touring his house. The man who built it was a wood worker and he used this house to showcase his talent. The staircase is beautifully made as well as many other details in the home. The house was located in the middle of the historic Battle of Franklin. There are still bullet holes in the house. They don’t allow photos to be taken inside. They have a gift shop if you would like to purchase a souvenir.
