  • Love the architecture of the facility and how the exhibits show it off. I like the small movie theatre and the shows that come through.  more »
  • After a nearly year long remodeling, the museum is open now for member and press advanced previews. It will be open to the general public, at no cost, on September 14, 2019. The exterior work, on the wheelchair ramp to the main entrance, for example, was continuing as we visited. The majority on the changes were made to the second floor galleries. They were "opened up" considerably, to expand the floor space. Many items have been brought out of storage for well arranged exhibits. The extensive and comprehensive Remington exhibit is wonderful. There is an interesting interactive exhibit in the SW corner involving machine vision and algorithms for generating computer graphics. We've long been members, even though there is no cost to visit.
  • I am a huge fan of the work of Frederic Remington and C.M. Russell, so I was thrilled to see a large collection of their paintings, sculptures, and drawings in this wonderful museum. If you love Remington & Russell, be sure to visit here (and also be sure to visit the Sid Richardson museum not far away because it also has key pieces of their work). This museum also has a wide range of other important and interesting pieces that illustrate American art throughout our history, and their visiting collections were also wonderful. The staff was very welcoming as well. Definitely one of my favorite museum visits in recent years. Helpful details: it's free (they encourage a small contribution), they have a small free parking lot, it's two stories tall and has multiple galleries, you could rush through it in an hour or take your time and spend three or more hours there. The gift shop is fantastic.
