Built in 1920, Bonnet House Museum and Gardens centers around a plantation-style building featured on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Once the winter home of Frederic Clay Bartlett and his wife Helen, it is now the residence of two American artists, but it remains open to the public. Inside you'll find the art collection and personal items from the original owners. The gardens feature five different ecosystems. Look for exotic parrots, cockatiels, and swans in the aviary, while the grounds showcase wild squirrel monkeys, gopher tortoises, and manatees. • Awesome place to visit. The authentic history here is a must visit. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and could answer a lot of questions. There are some monkeys in the tree and were able to view two of them. Also saw the largest iguana I have ever seen. The house and painting were intriguing. I would certainly encourage everyone to do this tour to learn more about the early life in Florida.
  • Beautiful home curated by artists. Gorgeous courtyard, art abounds, studio is my favorite room. Outside gardens include a bridge for swan, duckling & turtle viewing. 🐒 monkeys on the property! Well worth it. Tour guides are very knowledgeable.
