  • The collection of books is simply amazing and they have a fantastic staff. The diversity and breadth of books will blow your mind. The only negative is that you will find yourself buying more books....  more »

  • What an incredible store. Since I knew it was a bookstore years ago, I have always wanted to come, but never had the chance. I got to spend almost 2 hours in here today and still didn't see all the books I could have. If you are a lover of books, this is an absolute must. Largest used bookstore in the state of Michigan and several years ago it was named the number two bookstore in the world. In the world. I think they said they have over 100,000 books (spread over 4 floors) and that is easily believable. It is an incredibly vast subject collection. While they def have rare books which are more expensive, many of their books are very reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. I am sorry to gush so much about a store, but this is one of my all time favorite stores I have been to (Baker Book House in Grand Rapids also ranks very highly up there). Certainly one of my favorite places in Detroit. I will absolutely becoming back here.
  • the best, hands down. i always leave with a rare treasure obtained for a very reasonable price. they have everything from modern books to books from a hundred years ago. the selection of genres is expansive. allocate at least a couple of hours for a visit here – the sheer volume of books can be daunting. definitely grab a map of the store’s layout.
