A million reflective glass tiles, and numerous oddly shaped steel and titanium structures of Denver Art Museum, guard 68,000 art pieces from all over the world. The museum is well known for its Native American collection, and pre-Columbian and Spanish Colonial art objects. You will see sculptures, drawings, jewelry, and textiles from Africa and the Pacific islands, as well as Asian arts and crafts. Fifty-five hundred pieces from the Americas are preserved here. Apart from winning numerous awards for its collections, the museum has also been included in USA Today's list of family-friendly museums, where kids can play and learn through projects and workshops. • Very nice museum. Light focus on European and African art with a heavier focus on Indigenous Cultures of Americas. I found this refreshing as it is not always easy to access this type of experience. This museum does a much better job than most at providing detailed information about all of the pieces which really enhanced the learning experience. My visit lasted around 4.5hrs and I believe I experienced all they had on exhibit though some floors were currently closed. A worthwhile experience if you are in Denver.
  • The new wing is so chic! It’s always free for people 18 and under, and they have awesome crafts for kids (or anyone, really. I’ve spent a lot of time painting there). They allow drinks inside the museum but not inside the exhibits, so you can leave them right outside. The security and information personnel are super friendly and helpful. For lunch, mad greens across the street has fun salads, though they can be pricey.
