  • Dallas is not exactly known for its nature, but the Audubon Center is a natural gem right outside the city. Come for a visit and walk through the wetland habitats. Try to spot as many birds as you...  more »
  • This site is a great place to take a break, get out and enjoy nature without traveling out of town. It's especially amazing to thinking about and experience when you learn the history of the site as an illegal dumping ground. The trails are all well marked and in great shape, even despite all the rain the area had been having. None of them were too difficult either. It was a nice way to spend a couple of hours.
  • You can walk on raised structures or hike along the Trinity River at this beautiful retreat. The trails were clearly marked and well maintained and although we were warned about the possibility of snakes, we didn't see any although we saw and heard lots of birds. Best to get there early or in the afternoon because it was hot on the June afternoon we visited. I would also bring some insect spray since the many water areas attracted mosquitoes. Parking was free but there was an admission charge.
