With over 2,000 animals and well over 900,000 human visitors a year, Dallas Zoo is the largest zoo in Texas. Established in 1888 with just a pair of deer and a pair of mountain lions, the park now has grown to house over 400 distinct species of animals. The zoo is the only of its kind in the United States to house mixed animal enclosures with elephants living with other species. Over 70 species of poisonous reptiles also call the zoo home. If you're a penguin fan, you will want to check out the specialized penguin cove to see the little critters interact both above and under the water. Dallas Zoo reviews
Such an awesome zoo, especially since they completed the repairs! Thought I would make a quick trip but ended up spending 3-4 hours looking at all the different wildlife! Great spot to practice...

Some part of the zoo was closed. I want to see giraffe but they're closed. Overall, it was a nice little tour around Dallas Zoo. If you see the giraffe by the road, you've arrived!

What a great experience. We came from Denver and booked the Back Stage Safari. 100% worth it. We got to help train the Gorilla, pet and feed and Okapi, touch the flamingo, a monitor, a porcupine, and an animal that is so cute and amazing I forgot the name of it. This zoo has the best kids section ever. Such a neat play area. The employees were helpful and friendly. Definitely glad we came.
Plus side was that there was ample, friendly staff. That was great. Monorail does not run when it is hot outside.... it's Texas!!! Expected better habitats with better view of the animals. Couldn't see gorilla. Tiger hard to see. Did have one good view of lions with help of staff.
