Trendy Bishop Arts District includes over 60 independent businesses, including shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and coffeehouses. The area was developed as a warehouse district in the 1920s, but fell into a period of disrepair. Recent decades have seen the revitalization of the area, and today many artistic murals adorn the shabby-chic buildings. Spend time browsing the eclectic boutiques selling clothing, toys, pet goods, books, and gifts before stopping for coffee or a bite to eat. The neighborhood boasts a wide range of cuisines such as Thai, Mexican, sushi, barbecue, and Greek. Parking can be a problem; consider parking a few blocks away and walking.
