Somehow I got lucky enough to visit during the inaugural American Writer's Festival. The exhibits were informative, interactive, and overall a wonderful exhibit. They had several speakers throughout the day in-person and online streaming their presentations or live Q&A. I'm not sure if this is normally the case, but while I was there they had the festival split in two museums, the American Writers Museum and Design Museum of Chicago, so you got to enter both for free. Overall had a fun time and highly recommend to my fellow bookworms.
Their exhibits perfectly capture the essence of the writers they feature. They also have typewriters for you to use. I've never typed on one before and it was an unforgettable experience. I definitely would recommend going here. They have discounts for students and educators.
