To see how one of the largest aquariums in the world works, take a behind-the-scenes tour of Tennessee Aquarium. Tours offer a rare look at the filtering and food-preparation areas, with an additional stop at the aquarium's biggest habitat, a large tank filled with sand tiger and bonnethead sharks. Other highlights include an invertebrate gallery where you can see jellyfish, cuttlefish, giant octopuses, and spider crabs. Save some time for the "river journey" exhibit, which follows the path of a single raindrop from the Appalachian Mountains to the Gulf of Mexico. The aquarium also offers self-guided tours of three living forest exhibits teeming with wildlife that can be viewed from above and below the water's surface. Excellent aquarium. Perfect place to take the family. Definitely plan on eating before you get there or after you leave. The food and drink prices are pricey... but that aside. Everything was super nice. The layout was amazing. If you take the time to read the plaques it's fun and educational as well.

This place is awesome!! My husband and I spent about 4 hours total between the two exhibits (river and ocean) and had a great time. It is a well designed aquarium full of life and very informational. We arrived early on a weekday with our timed entry passes, no trouble parking and not too busy. Ate lunch between exhibits at an local restaurant within walking distance. Would recommend visiting here if you're in Chattanooga for sure!
