Birding By Boat on the Osprey, Cape May

Captain Bob & Tom are both birding naturalists who make you feel at ease on board the Osprey, a very solid & safe feeling pontoon boat. We had a great time and saw many shore birds, raptors, a Nelson’s sparrow, belted kingfisher, 2 bald eagles, many greater yellowlegs & black crowned night herons. Whether you’re just out for a nice sail on Cape May Harbor & the beautiful saltwater marshes, or are a serious birder &/or photographer, Captain Bob will do all he can to make the experience enjoyable.

This company is amazing. The guide is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. If you are interested in photographing birds, this is the one to take. We went for 2 hours and saw a dozen different types of birds. We have gone on trips where for days we spent looking for a bird or waiting for an opportunity, so we were a bit concerned about the 2 hour length. Within the two hours we were so tired, our hands hurt from taking all the photos. The guide knows where specific birds usually are, as well as taking into account lighting. He helped rotate the boat and gave us notice to get good lighting in the photos. If you have the money and are looking for something specific, its worth seeing if you can convince him to do a private trip.
