Sample fine wines and tour a 13th-century Tuscan-style castle at Castello di Amorosa. With a general admission, you explore the first two levels of the castle. Spend extra for the guided tour if you prefer to see more of the grand building. Discover the moat, chapel, drawbridge, and torture chamber, home to a 300-year-old iron maiden torture device. The great hall's frescoes took two Italian artists a year and a half to complete. Climb up one of the defensive towers to take in far-reaching views of the countryside. Once you have finished exploring, descend into tasting rooms to sample wines from the castle's vineyard. To visit Castello di Amorosa on your trip to Calistoga, use our Calistoga trip site.

Great venue - member service level was high. Just a fun place to go beyond your normal wine tasting experience.

While I agree this place is absolutely stunning and having been a member there it was great until we decided to buy their $1200 case of wine which we paid upfront. We take 6 bottles now Aug 2021 and they send 6 bottles later in March 2022. Well we are now in May 2022 and still haven't seen an email, no phone call, no text, no returned calls after leaving at least 4 v-mail messages and when I do try to call I'm being passed from one department to the next each claiming this is not their area/issue?!? It doesn't seem to matter if you're a member or not >.

This was a wonderful experience for my parents and I. We didn’t have enough time to do the self guided tour, but we did the wine tasting. John was our wine tasting host and he was very knowledgeable and descriptive with the various wines. He was able to adjust his terminology depending and descriptions based on our wine tasting knowledge. I don’t really drink wine, so my knowledge of wine tasting is minimal, but John was actually able to find a wine that I really do like. I highly recommend him as your host. The grounds themselves were gorgeous. I only have two small complaints. The women’s restroom was very unclean. One stall was out of toilet paper, another stall had a clogged toilet, leaving only two usable stalls, not to mention the toilet paper all over the floor. The second complaint I have is the process in which you order the wine that’s tasted made my parents feel a little bit pressured. You’re at a table and your wine tasting host comes around, such as a waiter would, except better. After your tastings, you are asked to place your wine order with your wine host, which created a little bit of pressure in this type of setting. However, I suppose it’s smart on a business standpoint because my parents definitely wouldn’t have spent that much money, had we purchased the wine in another area, such as the gift shop on the way out. Overall, John made this a wonderful experience for us and I would definitely recommend visiting this winery.
