Everything is closed in the mornings as late as 10am. This would probably be more fun in the summer, and I would suggest waiting until then to visit.

If you are interested in a nice walk along the beach, then I recommend you visit off season—during the first week of February, for example. Not crowded. Sunny. Delightful. Restrooms are open!

The boardwalk is great. I wish there was some shade on the boardwalk but it was a nice walk. The beach is quite dirty but good if you cannot go to any other beach outside of NYC.
