The 21 hectare (52 acre) Brooklyn Botanic Garden is home to a number of revered plant collections and themed green spaces. Its Shakespeare Garden boasts more than 80 plants mentioned in the works of William Shakespeare. Make sure to read the plants' labels to find the relevant quotations. Stroll the winding paths of the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden to find a temple dedicated to wolf spirits and a pond filled with koi fish. You can discover plants from different American ecosystems in the Native Flora Garden. The gift shop sells an impressive collection of bulbs and seeds. Brooklyn Botanic Garden reviews
This is one of the most stunning places in Brooklyn, you will not even feel you are in the city. Go here instead of garbage-stewn Prospect Park with its dangerous e-bikes and hordes of homeless... more »
What a find. Stumble across this by complete accident. A real nice break away from the urban life of Brooklyn. Loads of open space for beautiful walks, loads of different wild flowers and ponds. Maps.... more »
The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens is a little sister to the Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. Do not confuse the two. In Brooklyn you will find lovely paths and specimens of all things growing in the Northeast, it is relatively contained. It is beautiful in the Spring, but less enchanting in the heat of the summer. It is a lovely walk outside after you have visited the Brooklyn Museum next door. My suggestion is to do both in one day.
Very nice place with great exhibitions! There was a wedding taking place when I went last and it does seem like a beautiful place to get married! Really laid back vibe and easy to move around. Compared to the Bronx Zoo it's actually easier to walk around and things are closer to each other. The BX sometimes carts are required especially for those not prone to walking. I'd go again if I'm around Brooklyn and definitely kid friendly 😁.
