  • Many an acquaintance of mine has always said "You have to play Tot Hill Farms" I will say it is a masterpiece from a mastermind, but Mike Strands would have been more disappointed then my golf group.....  more

  • Okay, I understand all the press for Mike Strantz and his unique and complex designs. I played Tobacco Road a couple years back and enjoyed it. I was in N.C. last week and played Tot Hill Farm Golf....  more

  • One of the prettier course I've played. Several great holes and challenging. Overall I thought the course was in good shape.
  • This review is geared toward 7 and under handicaps that appreciate golf courses. Well that was an emotional roller coaster. We’ve played 4 other strantz courses and it’s hard to describe this one. Not as tricky as tobacco but lots of wild things. Our group was a bit perplexed after the first four holes. It feels like your hungover and trying to find your way. Just overall confusion. It starts to settle down anger about 8 holes and then you start to feel comfortable. I would say there’s some similarities to Sequoyah National but not as deep. Some of the greens are nuts. The back 9 was really, really good. It’s cool how the last two holes come out of the woods and you’re in the farmland. Par threes have a ton of character and you get hit with some stretches of totally different holes. And then there’s the greens. Obvious real issues. At least 5 greens that are basically lost. All on the front. It really took away from the vibe. We hope they can figure it out. I think it’s a fungus. Back 9 was night and day. Not perfect but not impeding play. I was really torn if it was worth the trip out from Pinehurst. After 6 holes I wasn’t sure. But it gets better. Just trust it. You need a lot of trust in your game. First time in 10 years I used the AR feature on golfshot to help me figure out where to hit it. For those who say they need to fix the cart paths, you just don’t get it. It’s all fine even though it’s bumpy. Do I want to play this again? Yes! If they figure out the greens and bring it back to glory it is a not-to-miss spot. If you hate strantz, you will not like this, but you will maybe hate it less than tobacco, but maybe a bit more if you can’t stand the greens. The pro shop merch is weak and I’m not sold on the logo because it looks too much like bulls bay. Hope this helps. I hope this place makes it.
