Yucatan's busy capital, Merida remains a mid-sized urban center offering an impressive list of cultural activities, eclectic nightlife, and a chance to see tropical examples of French and Italian architecture.
On the 4th (Thu), stroll the grounds of Cementario General, admire the masterpieces at Museo de Arte Popular, see the interesting displays at Casa Museo Montes Molina, then pause for some photo ops at Monumento a la Patria, and finally indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas. On the next day, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia de Jesus, then walk around Parque de Santiago, then admire the masterpieces at Museo Fernando Garcia Ponce Macay, and finally get outside with Parque de Santa Lucia.

You can drive from Valladolid to Merida in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle; or take a bus. Expect slightly colder evenings in Merida when traveling from Valladolid in March, with lows around 24°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Tulum.
