Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Get out of town with these interesting Houston side-trips: Galveston (Moody Mansion, Moody Gardens, &more). There's much more to do: engage your brain at The Houston Museum of Natural Science, get to know the resident critters at Houston Zoo, have fun and explore at Children's Museum Houston, and examine the collection at Space Center Houston.

Change things up with these side-trips from Reno: River Rafting & Tubing (in Tahoe City) and South Lake Tahoe (Vikingsholm & Tallac Historic Site).
