Durango

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Wed): view the masterpieces at Scenic Aperture Gallery, take a memorable tour with Tours, and then see Off-Road Tours. On the 3rd (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: trot along with a tour on horseback, kick your exploration up a notch at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, and then make a trip to Historic Downtown Durango.

For where to stay, other places to visit, reviews, and more tourist information, read Durango travel planner.

The Route module shows you all the different ways you can get to Durango. In June, daytime highs in Durango are 85°F, while nighttime lows are 44°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Fri) early enough to drive to Colorado Springs.
