Village of a Million People

Often described as the city of laptops and lederhosen, Munich is an international center of business, engineering, research, and medicine that still maintains a rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Altstadt von Fuessen and Pilgrimage Church of Wies. Your inner history buff will appreciate Dom St. Stephan and Heiliggeistkirche. Venture out of the city with trips to Altstadt (Old Town) Mittenwald (in Mittenwald), Ettal Abbey (in Ettal) and Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) (in Passau). Spend the 1st (Fri) exploring nature at Nationalparkzentrum - Haus der Berge. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Eisbach Wave, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. George Church, admire the landmark architecture of Theatinerkirche St. Kajetan, and indulge your taste buds at Food & Drink.

For maps, other places to visit, where to stay, and other tourist information, refer to the Munich trip planner.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Memmingen Allgau Airport, Nuremberg Airport and Flughafen München-Riem. In April, daytime highs in Munich are 57°F, while nighttime lows are 37°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
