The former capital of Guatemala and a World Heritage Site, Antigua retains its colonial charm and remains one of the most visited destinations in the country.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Antigua: Guatemala City (Catedral Metropolitana, Palacio Nacional, &more). The adventure continues: see the interesting displays at Casa Santo Domingo Museums, steep yourself in history at Iglesia de San Francisco El Grande, look for gifts at Jades Imperio Maya, and contemplate the geological forces at Volcán Pacaya.
