Little Island

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Fri): tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Punta Soldado Beach and then kick back and relax at Flamenco Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: enjoy the sea views from Culebrita Lighthouse, then step off the mainland to explore Culebrita, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Zoni.

Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
Go for a jaunt from San Juan to El Yunque National Forest to see El Yunque Rain Forest about 1h 10 min away. The adventure continues: stroll through Condado Beach, get to know the fascinating history of Sitio Histórico de San Juan, pause for some serene contemplation at Catedral Basilica Menor de San Juan Bautista, and look for gifts at Turquesa Viejo.
