One of Poland's oldest cities, Krakow sits at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, its historical town center nestled on the left bank of the Vistula River.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Wieliczka Salt Mine and Wawel Cathedral. Kids will appreciate attractions like Grota Lokietka (King's Lokietek Cave) and Wawel Royal Castle. Step out of Krakow with an excursion to Zamek Królewski in Suloszowa--about 44 minutes away. Spend the 26th (Fri) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Warsaw to Krakow is an approximately 2.5-hour flight. You can also take a train; or drive. In August, plan for daily highs up to 29°C, and evening lows to 15°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Mon) early enough to catch the flight to Warsaw.
