Lihue or Līhue is an unincorporated census-designated place (CDP) and the county seat of Kauai County, Hawaii. Relax by the water at Kalapaki Beach and Tunnels Beach. Attractions like Helicopter Tours and Poipu Beach Park make great kid-friendly stops. Venture out of the city with trips to Hanalei (Wai`oli Hui`ia Church & Hanalei Beach), Waimea (Waimea Canyon State Park & Puu Hinahina Lookout) and Scuba & Snorkeling (in Eleele). Next up on the itinerary: take in the dramatic scenery at Wailua Falls, learn more about the world around you at Kauai Museum, immerse yourself in nature at Na Pali Coast State Park, and take in the dramatic natural features at Spouting Horn.

For where to stay, ratings, and tourist information, refer to the Lihue trip itinerary planner.

Sacramento to Lihue is an approximately 9.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Sacramento to Lihue. Traveling from Sacramento in October, Lihue is much hotter at night with lows of 74°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
