The City of Lakes

Located on both banks of the Mississippi River, Minneapolis salutes the state's love of the outdoors with numerous lakes, wetlands, creeks, and waterfalls--many connected to one another by a national scenic byway great for sightseeing.
Kick off your visit on the 26th (Fri): admire the masterpieces at Minneapolis Institute of Art, then take in nature's colorful creations at Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and then test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 27th (Sat): get engrossed in the history at Mill City Museum, then explore the landscape on two wheels at Mill Ruins Park, then take in the dramatic scenery at Minnehaha Park, and finally browse the different shops at Mall of America.

Chicago to Minneapolis is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 81°F in August, and nighttime lows around 64°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sat) so you can fly to Duluth.

Zenith City of the Unsalted Seas

Situated on the westernmost point of the Lake Superior, Duluth represents a booming port city.
When in Duluth, make a side trip to see Gooseberry Falls State Park in Two Harbors, approximately Two Harbors away. There's lots more to do: explore and take pictures at Minnesota's North Shore Scenic Drive, snap pictures at Aerial Lift Bridge, stop by Great Lakes Candy Kitchen, and walk around Enger Park.

You can fly from Minneapolis to Duluth in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In August, Duluth is little chillier than Minneapolis - with highs of 73°F and lows of 59°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Tue) so you can catch the flight back home.
