Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Kick off your visit on the 5th (Mon): see the interesting displays at Space Center Houston and then admire the natural beauty at McGovern Centennial Gardens. On your second day here, take in the spiritual surroundings of Lakewood Church, then stroll through White Oak Bayou Trail, and then explore the different monuments and memorials at Glenwood Cemetery.

Miami Beach — 2 nights

Separated by water from the neighboring city of Miami, Miami Beach sits on a barrier island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
Start off your visit on the 7th (Wed): take a stroll through Art Deco Historic District, then do sightseeing your way with Art Deco Walks, and then take a stroll through Lincoln Road. Keep things going the next day: wander the streets of Collins Avenue, then examine the collection at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and then have fun at Lock & Load Miami.
