Porto

Unvanquished City

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Get some cultural insight at Palacio da Bolsa and Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral). Visit Torre dos Clerigos and Convento de Santo Antonio Church for their historical value. Step out of Porto to go to Gafanha da Encarnacao and see Praia da Costa Nova, which is approximately 1 hour away. Dedicate the 16th (Thu) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's lots more to do: stop by Livraria Lello, examine the collection at The Maritime Museum of Ilhavo, take in the views from Ponte de Dom Luis I, and do a tasting at Pocas Vinhos.

Discover how to plan a Porto trip in just a few steps with Inspirock's itinerary builder.

The Route module shows you travel options from your home to Porto. Expect a daytime high around 18°C in December, and nighttime lows around 7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Sun) early enough to travel to Braganca.
