The financial hub of Switzerland, Zurich is most often associated with money and banks.

Venture out of the city with trips to Elsener Messerschmied AG (in Rapperswil) and Lucerne (Lake Lucerne & Rigi). And it doesn't end there: wander the streets of Old Town, take in the awesome beauty at Uetliberg Mountain, examine the collection at Musee Visionnaire Zurich, and admire the masterpieces at Museum Rietberg.

Best known as home the Matterhorn mountain, Zermatt serves as a chic ski resort town of the Swiss Alps.

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Zermatt: Saas-Fee (Saas Fee Ski Resort & Ice Pavilion). You can drive from Engelberg to Zermatt in 3.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or do a combination of train and bus. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Sat) to allow time to drive to Geneva.

Geneva brings the world to one small city with a huge expat population and the highest number of international organizations in any one city.

On the 10th (Sun), explore the activities along Lake Geneva and then take some stellar pictures from Cathedrale de St-Pierre. On your second day here, get a sense of history and politics at Palais des Nations, Genève, take advantage of the amenities at Bains des Paquis, ponder the design of The Geneva Water Fountain, make a trip to The Flower Clock, then stop by DAVIDOFF Geneve, and finally appreciate the history behind Reformation Wall (Mur de la Reformation).

You can drive from Zermatt to Geneva in 3.5 hours. Another option is to take a train. Expect a daytime high around 6°C in January, and nighttime lows around 0°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Montreux.

Mostly known for its world-renowned jazz festival, Montreux serves as a picturesque lakeside resort town on the Swiss Riviera.

Kick off your visit on the 12th (Tue): have fun and explore at Chaplin's World, take in the pleasant sights at Montreux Lakeside, then appreciate the history behind Freddie Mercury Statue, and finally explore the historical opulence of Chateau de Chillon.

Drive from Geneva to Montreux in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Tue) so you can go by car to Bern.

The capital and political center of Switzerland, Bern sits on a peninsula formed by the U-shaped River Aare.
