Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
Change things up with a short trip to Aigas Field Centre in Beauly (about 36 minutes away). There's lots more to do: learn insider's secrets on a distillery tour, have some family-friendly fun at Wildwoodz, make a trip to Culloden Battlefield, and explore the ancient world of Clava Cairns.

Durness is a village and civil parish in the north-west Highlands of Scotland. Kick off your visit on the 11th (Sat): tour the pleasant surroundings at Sandwood Bay Beach, browse the exhibits of Mudness Ceramics, then kick back and relax at Sango Bay, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Durness Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: head off the coast to Handa Island Wildlife Reserve and then enjoy the sand and surf at Balnakeil Beach.

Thurso is a town and former burgh on the north coast of the Highland council area of Scotland.
On the 13th (Mon), brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Dunnet Bay Distillery, take some stellar pictures from Duncansby Head, then get engrossed in the history at Wick Heritage Museum, and finally step aboard Caithness Seacoast Ltd. Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Get out of town with these interesting Fort William side-trips: Glenfinnan Viaduct (in Glenfinnan), Camusdarach Beach (in Arisaig) and Morar Beach (in Morar). There's much more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Highland Titles Nature Reserve, enjoy some diversion at Ice Factor, appreciate the history behind Peace Memorial, and trek along West Highland Way.
