New Orleans — 14 nights

The Big Easy
Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.Venture out of the city with trips to Oak Alley Plantation (in Vacherie) and Whitney Plantation (in Wallace). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at The National WWII Museum, get to know the resident critters at Audubon Zoo, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Louis Cathedral, and appreciate the extensive heritage of French Quarter.

Memphis to New Orleans is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Traveling from Memphis in April, New Orleans is somewhat warmer at night with lows of 71°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel back home.
