Get out of town with these interesting Dallas side-trips: Fort Worth (Tandy Leather Museum & Gallery & Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District), North Texas Escape Rooms (in McKinney) and Black Watch Sailing Charters (in Grapevine). Despite its laid-back college vibe, Austin is an influential center for politics, technology, film, and music.
Take a break from Austin with a short trip to Lake Travis Zipline Adventures in Volente, about 36 minutes away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Texas State Capitol, see the interesting displays at LBJ Presidential Library, admire the masterpieces at Elisabet Ney Museum, and relax and float downstream with ATXcursions.
