Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
Get outdoors at Amarutrek Expeditions and Santuario Animal de Cochahuasi. Shop till you drop at Hilo and Mercado Central de San Pedro. Step out of Cusco with an excursion to Huasao Bosque de los Ents, del Senor de los Anillos in Oropesa--about 54 minutes away. The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Sacsayhuaman, delve into the distant past at Centro Historico De Cusco, examine the collection at Museo Quechua, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Qorikancha.

Sao Paulo, Brazil to Cusco is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Sao Paulo to Cusco. In September, Cusco is little chillier than Sao Paulo - with highs of °C and lows of °C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Tue) so you can travel to Paracas.

A port town largely devoted to tourism, Paracas serves as a popular starting point for exploration of Peru's south coast.
On the 11th (Wed), stroll through La Catedral, thenhead off the coast to Islas Ballestas, and then make a trip to The Chandelier. On the 12th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the exciting artwork at Pukasoncco, Arte Precolombino. and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Paracas National Reserve.

You can fly from Cusco to Paracas in 3 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Cusco in September, Paracas is a bit warmer at night with lows of °C. On the 12th (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Ollantaytambo.

On the 13th (Fri), take in the dramatic scenery at Perolniyoq Waterfall, thenexplore the striking landscape at Salinas de Maras, and then stop by Seminario Ceramics. Traveling from Paracas in September, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Ollantaytambo, with lows of °C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sat) early enough to take a train to Machu Picchu.
