The southernmost city on the island, Galle combines colonial-era history with a tropical feel and climate.
Venture out of the city with trips to Hikkaduwa (Hikkaduwa Beach, Community Tsunami Museum, &more), Bentota Beach (in Bentota) and Mirissa (Mirissa Beach & Dolphin & Whale Watching). There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Galle Fort, tour the pleasant surroundings at Sea Turtle Farm Galle Mahamodara, discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Unawatuna Devol Devalaya.

The relaxing hilltop village of Ella benefits from a more temperate climate than much of the rest of country thanks to its high elevation.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Sun): stop by R. M. S Antique And Brassware, explore the striking landscape at Ella Rock, and then take in the awesome beauty at Little Adam's Peak. Keep things going the next day: make a trip to Nine Arches Bridge and then admire the sheer force of Ravana Ella Falls.
