Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Tivoli (Villa d'Este & Villa Adriana). There's still lots to do: delve into the distant past at Palatine Hill, appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, steep yourself in history at Colosseum, and don't miss a visit to Roman Forum.

For where to stay, more things to do, and tourist information, refer to the Rome trip planner.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. March in Rome sees daily highs of 61°F and lows of 45°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
