Set within the grounds of an extensive historical park, Wat Si Chum stands as a monument to the Sukothai Kingdom's architectural prowess and religious devotion. Pay a visit to this sprawling 14th-century mandapa, or pavilion, located in the center of the complex and surrounded by an imposing moat. Marvel at its massive 15 m (49 ft) stone wall, then wander between the columns and enter through the slit-like opening, examining the slate drawings depicting scenes of Buddha's life along the way. You'll find a stately statue of Buddha, resting cross-legged with his palm pointed upwards, inside of the temple. Rent a bike and head West with respect to the Central national park of old Sukhothai. Located only 2 kilometers away from the bus stop (to the new city or wintour), you'll reach the Western park. The entry is 100 bath (+10 for the bike) and comprises two temples. The Wat Si Chum is a small temple that contains a giant surprise. Make sure to read the story written on the board before walking your way to the giant Buddha: a quiet moment of calm is awaiting you.
One of the many sites/temples in Sukhothai National Historical Park.. The statue of Buddha in the square shaped temple is breath-taking and huge.. Many representations on paintings might be inspired from Wat Si Chum Buddha statue..
