Wat Phan Tao, Chiang Mai

Religious Site · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Built in the 14th century, the small monastic temple of Wat Phan Tao serves the royal temple next door. Upon entry, look for the gilded wood carving over the main door depicting animals. Farther in, take time to admire the carved teak "wiharn," a chapel for people to pray in and a former royal residence. This structure features interesting items like a dhamma casket with Buddhist scriptures and a gilded stand. • We were so lucky to pass the temple when there was a some important ceremony going on in the evening. The mood and ambience was so pretty with colourful lanterns and chants from the monks. It was quite emotional. The pictures don't do any justice of being present at the temple just that moment. I am so lucky to have been there experienced the tranquil atmosphere and moment!
  • Today we went to all the temple's in Chiang Mai. In one word just beautiful but you've to see them for your self. The best one was for sure Wat Chedi Luang. Only at this you've to pay 40 bath entry fee when most of them are free. Still worth it though. In some of temple's women are not allowed to go inside like in the Silver temple but still you can watch from the outside. The surroundings are also very beautiful
