Chiang Mai National Museum Reviews
This is a fine example of a regional National Museum in Thailand. Lots of local history on display. I especially liked the prehistoric section, with the old beads and bronze age items. Clean and well.... more »
THIS museum displays its exhibits on two floors, is well laid out and spacious and goes into considerable detail about pre-history and the Lanna kingdom. Some claim the museum is a bit too dry and... more »
Pleasantly surprised! Spacious, well arranged, ventilated, well lit, great exhibits providing information in Thai and (decent) English regarding the history of the Northern (Lanna) Region, the arrival and spread of Buddhism into the different parts of Thailand, and more. Personally, as it was my first visit, I was very impressed by some of the displays, and the English translations - while containing some errors, was reasonably well done. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there, depending on how you enjoy your museum visits, this one could range any where between 1-3 or even 4 hours. As I was visiting with elders, I was also very impressed at the availability of an elevator (there are 2 levels), and I noticed ramps with handrails connecting some of the display areas that were set apart from the main areas. Highly recommended for people who are interested on learning about the North. 😊👍
This official museum provides visitors with a cultural understanding. Most of the pieces are about Lanna artifacts and northern Thai history. It is located outside the old town. For the tourist like me, it’s not very convenient to arrange the trip. But I enjoyed the sophisticated Buddhist statues, their faces and the shapes are perfect. I think It is worthy to visit, although my daughter felt boring.
