Faberge Museum, St. Petersburg

4.7
View the Imperial Easter eggs created for the last two Russian emperors, Alexander III and Nicholas II, at Faberge Museum. Devoted to the creative work of the great Russian jeweler Carl Faberge, this privately owned museum was founded to repatriate lost cultural valuables to Russia, and features approximately 4,000 works of decorative applied and fine arts, including gold and silver items, paintings, porcelain, and bronze. Much of the collection belonged to the royal family and other members of the monarchist courts of Europe. Guided tours last about an hour and are offered in Russian and English, although English tours are limited so be sure to reserve in advance through the website, or call the museum directly. You can explore the museum independently during specific hours, otherwise you must join a guided tour to view the exhibits. Note that photography is not permitted inside the museum. • Definitely worth visiting to see some of the famous eggs in real life. Apart from the eggs, the museum interior is very beautiful and worth a visit by itself. In addition, there are many other interesting pieces in the museum such as old tea jars, vases, paintings etc. The museum is pretty small and not as crowded as for example the Hermitage. Two hours should be sufficient for a visit. Also, check out the souvenir shop which has some cute eggs and books related to Faberge.
  • Very nice and historical museum. With an audio guide you get some historical information as well which adds to the experience. Eggs are nice but also many other things
