Big waves and wide sandy swaths make Praia da Nazare one of the most popular spots along the country's Atlantic coastline. Due to its geography and strong ocean currents, this beach often sees monster breakers in excess of 20 m (78 ft), a huge draw for some of the world's top surfers. In addition to record-breaking waves, the beach offers easy access to the nearby town of Nazare, a busy tourist resort packed with trendy shops and award-winning seafood restaurants. The current is extremely strong here, even on calm days, so watch out for the really big swells, and keep an eye on the weakest swimmers in your party. Amazing place to relax and enjoy a stupendous beach scene with natural beauty that's indescribable. Swim area is away from rip currents so follow markings to stay safe. Includes sand soccer fields and volleyball courts to enjoy open to public and a full beach sports stadium with European pro events/tournaments held there in the summer. Can surf or learn to surf if you're a beginner in the gentle summer waves or challenge yourself in the winter for the big ones. Either way can relax away an entire day with good food all along the street opposite the sand. Festive fun vacation atmosphere here. Enjoy!!!

My favorite beach in Portugal. Authentic, beautiful, and full of charm. The sun is strong and full. Be sure to rent a cabana to get out of the sun if needed. Strong undercurrent, so careful with the little ones. The night life is busy and worth the walk through the streets. Spend the day at the beach, shopping, cold shower, dinner and drinks, and walk the lively streets. The night clubs really bring things to life. Most don’t go to bed before 4:00am.
